Live in The Word

Last week I read Psalm 119. Out of the 176 verses, nearly every single one of them has the word, commandment, statutes, law, and such related words! It was a good reminder of how important it is that we read His Word, and store it in our hearts, so that we may live accordingly.

Blessed are those who walk in the law of the Lord!

Blessed are those who seek Him with their whole heart!

How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed to Your word! With my whole heart I have sought you. Oh, let me not wander from your commandments! Better than gold, yes, than fine gold! The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

To the Christian, the word of God ought to be precious to us. It was given to us, that we may learn how we ought to live.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16

It may not always seem like the most fun thing to do, and sometimes (at least for me) it almost seems like a chore, and I do it with a bit of mental grumbling. That, of course, is a terrible attitude.

But is important to dive into the word and spend time with God to nurture your relationship with Him.

Like with any friend, you have to spend time with that friend in order to know them, and deepen your relationship with them. You can read about a person, know a person's name, read all their blog posts etc. and you will not truly know the person until you spend time with them.

Likewise, just reading the Bible cause you're supposed to, or it'll make you a better person, or you'll feel holier etc. but not actually reading it because you want to know God, or to spend time with Him in His word because you love Him, then it is for nothing. Some men spend their lives studying the word and know it cover to cover (only to disprove it and find fault), and never get saved.

I know all my readers are Christians and know the importance of the Bible, but I thought a reminder wouldn't hurt! Beside's it's good to get a ramble out.
